Naif Pét-Nat Çalkarası 2021 (Semi-Sparkling Wine)

Naif Pét-Nat Çalkarası 2021 (Semi-Sparkling Wine) is produced from ingenious 100% Çalkarası grapes. The grapes were destemmed and after gentle crushing, maceration took place for 15 hours on the skin to extract colour and flavours. Then they were pressed and fermented in stainless steel tank. Processed as low intervention, the wine was bottled while fermenting with no fining and filtration. The alcoholic fermentation was finished in the bottle, and CO2 was trapped as bubbles, making it naturally sparkling. It remained in contact with the lees for 7 months, then it was manually disgorged.’

Tasting Notes

Bright, deep candy pink in colour; very fragrant with strawberries, red cherries, and raspberries on the nose. Great fruit intensity is balanced by high acidity and delicious sour-cherry aftertaste with well-formed bubbles.

Source of Grapes

The vineyard is located in the Çal District of Denizli in the Aegean region of Turkey. It is 250km inland of the mid-Aegean coast, with an altitude of 850m. Cold winters and warm summers are characteristics of the climate, with an average temperature of 32°C in August. The vines have 25 years of average age, and they are head-trained. The soil is a mix of sand and clay. Sustainable farming procedures are applied to the vineyard.

Pét-Nat is the short name for the French Pétillant Natural, simply meaning ‘naturally sparkling’. Pét-Nat is a wine that is bottled during initial fermentation, and the sugars from the grapes provide the bubbles.
