KARASAKIZ

Karasakiz (aka Kuntra) is a red-wine grape found in its native Turkey and occasionally in Greece. It gives light-bodied, soft red wines whose place in Turkish wine culture has now largely been taken over by more flavorful French varieties such as Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. The classic Karasakiz/Kuntra wine is definitively “easy-drinking”: low in alcohol, acidity and tannins, and full of candied berryfruit flavors. The name means “black mastic”. It can be found mostly in Thrace and near Marmara sea. The colour is ruby red. The taste usually is low in acidity and tannins but has a long finish.
