Thousands years old goblets and pitchers, the world’s oldest amphoras, frescoes depicting Hittite kings offering wine to gods, myths, inscriptions… Our effort is to carry the flag proudly in the homeland of wine.
Our endeavor is to carry the torch of Hittites in one of the homelands of viniculture with pride with our globally awarded wines, our carefully processed vineyards and wines and with our rich cellar located in the thousands of years old caves of argos in Cappadocia, one of the best 10 wine hotels of the world.
VINEYARDS
Argos Vineyards’ extraordinary wines that excellently reflect Cappadocia terroir are produced with the grapes grown in our four vineyards spanning 21 hectares on the slopes of Kızılırmak (Halys River). The common soil structure with a volcanic quality featuring rocks, clay and tuff, provides the ideal and quality growing conditions for our Kalecik Karası, Shiraz, Emir, Narince, Boğazkere and Tempranillo grape varieties. We continue our endeavors under harsh climate and soil conditions without compromising on producing low yield, high quality grapes.
GRAPES
KALECİK KARASI
Kalecik Karası is an indigenous grape type of Kalecik county of Ankara, Turkey. Wines produced by Kalecik Karası are elegant and soft due to the slow maturing period of the type. Wines from Kalecik Karası which is easy to grow in the inner Anatolia regions, are light colored, aromatic, medium-bodied with high acidity. Contains dense fruit aromas of cherry and blackberry.
SYRAH
This is one of the most popular grapes of the world. This thick-skinned grape has a bitterish taste. The spicy wines from this type of grapes are compatible with fusion cuisine that is getting more common throughout the world. Syrah is used as a varietal and is also blended.
EMİR
Wines produced from Emir are high in mineral and acidity. This is a light-bodied grape type with light tangerine aromas and white flower notes. Emir produces good results especially in Cappadocia area.
NARİNCE
Although white, wines from Narince grapes are full-bodied wines. They have medium acidity and bear a resemblance to Chardonnay type. Narince gives wines that are suitable for oak barrels.
BOĞAZKERE
Boğazkere is an ancient Anatolian grape. It’s original Turkish name means ‘sour to the palate’, as a reference to its taste. Commonly blended with Öküzgözü grapes, they as well make very strong varietal wines.
TEMPRANİLLO
Tempranillo is maybe the most important black grape type of Spain when it comes to quality. It’s a dark skinned type with low glucose levels. This makes the wines from Tempranillo low in acidity and alcohol. They are balanced and easy to drink wines.
